If you are loading
into a Google Meet, through Classroom or elsewhere, and have a warning icon
above your microphone with the message "Mic muted by system" you may
have accidentally hit the mic mute button on your keyboard, or via a shortcut.

To resolve this,
make sure that the mute microphone light is not lit up on your keyboard - this
can be found on the F4 key on the laptop's built-in keyboard. If it is lit up,
you can press the key again to disable the function, and this may resolve your issue.
If not, and the F4
key is not lit up, in the bottom right corner of your screen you will need to right-click on the speaker/volume icon and
select SOUND SETINGS.

In the Sound
settings window, scroll down past the output section, down to the INPUT section with the microphone icon. At the
bottom of this section, you will see VOLUME
and another little microphone icon, likely with a line through it, displaying
as disabled.
Click the microphone
icon to remove the line, and unmute the microphone.

You can now close
this window and navigate back to your Google Meet tab. You might have to refresh the page for it to
pick up the microphone.
